FAQs
Where do I begin? How will we meet?
Click on “Connect With Me” to complete the contact form if you would like to schedule an appointment or if you have questions and would like to talk a bit first. I will reach out within 48 hours.
All therapy sessions are provided online via telehealth. Clients should plan to join from a private space using a phone or computer with reliable internet access.
What can I expect?
In our first session, we’ll take time to get to know each other. I’ll ask questions to understand what brings you to therapy, what you’ve tried before, and what you’re hoping for now. You’re encouraged to ask questions too, about me, my style, and what therapy with me might look like. My hope is that you leave feeling heard, respected, and a little less alone, with a sense of whether this feels like a good fit.
What is a “neurodiversity-affirming therapist”? What about an “identity-based therapist”?
As a neurodiversity-affirming therapist, I recognize that neurodivergence is not something to be “fixed., but instead, it is a valuable and unique difference in the way that some people experience the world and process information. Therapy is collaborative, focusing on your strengths, unique needs, and emotional well-being while working toward goals that are personally meaningful. As an identity-based therapist, I bring my own experience as a neurodivergent adult diagnosed with ADHD and autism later in life. This perspective allows me to relate to some of the challenges my clients face and, when appropriate, I may share aspects of my own experience. Together, we explore what being neurodivergent means to you, process through trauma that may be a result of autistic burnout and/or masking over the years, and work towards building a positive self-concept and healthy ways to cope and regulate your emotions.
Do you accept insurance?
I accept insurance and am in-network with most major insurance plans, including but not limited to Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, United HealthCare (Optum), CareFirst, and Cigna. Prior to initiating services, I will verify your insurance benefits. I will also provide a form to help guide you in checking your own mental health coverage, and I strongly recommend contacting your insurance company directly to confirm your benefits and to obtain any additional details about your coverage.
I also offer out-of-network services. The fee is $175 for a 55-minute session. I will provide you with a superbill that may be submitted to your insurance company for possible reimbursement, depending on your specific plan. You are encouraged to contact your insurance provider prior to beginning services to confirm out-of-network benefits and reimbursement procedures. Payment is due at the time of service.
